10 Ways to Improve Spiritual Balance

Do you ever feel like you need a fresh start? Like your body wants an energetic reset? Do you feel like you could benefit from having your spirit body dusted off and shaken out? Your intuition is telling you it’s time to listen to your wisdom and develop a consistent practice of cleaning the energy in and around you. And it won’t be difficult or time-consuming to do. Taking little steps daily can help to bring you equanimity and fresh energy.

Here are 10 ways to improve your spiritual balance

  1. Meditate

    This one might be obvious, but not having a daily and timely meditation ritual can chip away at your spiritual balance. And it doesn’t have to be a dramatic routine. Pick the same time every day to meditate and do it for the same amount of time. Start with just 3 minutes. That’s it. Even if it has to be as soon as you sit in the car at the same time in the morning. Or when you enter the bathroom for a shower. Have a seat on the floor or the toilet (with it closed, of course).   2. Ground

    When is the last time you took your shoes off and put your bare feet in the grass? If you live in a climate where the ground is snow-covered or frozen, hug a tree, allowing your hands to make contact with the bark. You can also lay on the sand or put your bare feet on warm rocks to re-energize your body and connect with the planet’s life force.

  3. Dance

    You don’t have to learn any choreography for this. Sing your own song or put on a tune that makes you want to bop to the beat. Dancing is primal. It returns you to your wild undomesticated self. It shakes off stagnant energetic debris and helps with those happy endorphins. Even if it’s for only the length of one song, you are supporting your general well-being.

  4. Take a cleansing bath

    Water is healing. You are mostly water. Return to it. There are a number of ritual bath options for you. Find at least one day a month to indulge in a tub.

  5. Run your energy and create an energy shield

    This is a specific type of meditation; a visioning exercise. Find a comfortable seat with your feet placed on the ground. Close your eyes and take a few calm and cleansing breaths. Start to see in the mind’s eye a grounding cord from your 1st chakra (root) anchoring into the earth’s core and as the cord descends into the planet’s center notice a beautiful light (you pick the color) coming up the cord and as it makes its way through the feet, ankles, calves, shins, knees, thighs to the first chakra notice its’ brilliant light removing blockages and cleansing everything it comes upon. Send any dark or static energy down through the cord and watch the loving cleansing light come up and take its place. Continue this visioning as you move up through each of the chakras. When reaching the crown chakra, begin receiving clear violet light from above. When you have completed running the energy through all of the chakras, envision yourself inside a bright bubble of protection. Again, you pick the color. Perhaps it is a bright pink and this bubble acts as an energy shield encircling you everywhere you go throughout your day.

  6. Journal 5 things you are grateful for

    Every day, take 1 minute to consciously write down or say out loud at least 5 things to be grateful for. And they need not be the big material things. Consider the dexterity of your hands, the strength of your muscles, or the feeling in your fingers. The tiniest of abilities can be overlooked but they enable the biggest of activities to happen. Marvel at your own unique gifts or find appreciation again in something as basic as your pillow.

  7. Be of service

    Being of service is one of the most impactful ways to recharge the heart and be in an energetic frequency of love. Volunteering is a great way to access being of service. However, if you are limited on time, be aware in a single day where you can positively impact three people you encounter. Offer to buy a cup of coffee, be intentional in giving a compliment, or offer to give a hug. Think of ways that you would love to be supported or treated and find ways to do the same for someone around you. Donating is another way to intentionally be of service. Find a charity you want to learn more about or a cause you are passionate about and give unconditional love.

  8. Cleanse your space

    Open the windows. Bang pots and pans. Spray some smudge spray. Tell the spirits who are present that don’t hold the highest good for you to leave now and thank the benevolent energies holding space and protecting you. Light a white candle.

  9. Pray

    For folks who are wary of religion, the word prayer can make folks cringe. But talking to source energy, your loved ones who have crossed over, and your guides, are all options to connect with something bigger than yourself. The reminder that you are not alone and still connected beyond what is seen with the naked eye can positively impact your energy centers and enliven you at the cellular level. Words are energetic vibrations. Your words are spells.

  10. Marvel at nature’s beauty

    Do you ever sit and look at the intricacies of plants or flowers or animals? How are they made that way? Do you ever stare at a flower’s colors and wonder how they can be so bright and luminous?
